I was literally born into this work.
The person behind the blog, Jennifer Malone-Seixas (that’s me!) has a long history of leadership and success in the field, a depth of practical knowledge that comes from years of direct experience and collaboration, and the advanced training and education to help make sense of it all.

From a young age, I spent countless hours at my family’s owned and operated nursing homes- observing, listening, and eventually working – in the kitchen, then as a receptionist, and decades later as an administrator and the chief operating officer. I witnessed and absorbed first-hand the humanity and dignity of this population. Truth be told, I also witnessed and experienced the hard work, crazy hours, and high stress involved in operating superior quality, mission-driven, Medicare 5-Star nursing homes that provided skilled care to residents, stable and supportive work environments for staff (seriously! people I met when I was a teenager, I worked alongside 20+ years later), and made lasting contributions to a diverse community in southwestern Connecticut.
Now, I’m on to new adventures as an independent* consultant in long-term care and certified geriatric care manager. I’m hopeful that sharing my insights, old and new, can help you decipher this complex and confusing world intersecting healthcare and senior living.
